Are You A Christian Writer?

Do you have a ‘Scribal Anointing?’

Firstly, look briefly at the world where we live. Every area of our lives from birth to death is affected and influenced by the writings and musings of the secular mind. For the Christian writer this can be daunting. The world news changes minute to minute, while God’s Word and message never changes.

Are you confident that what you have created will have the impact you desire on the reader? Or are you nervous and unsure of what people will think? Did you ask – Am I writing for the sake of writing, or am I writing with God’s purpose in mind?

Having your work published on a public platform can be daunting, to say the least. Having written for local rags in the past, I was soon to learn that there is a big difference between reporting on secular things and being a Christian writer, testifying about God and His Kingdom.

What is the Scribal Anointing?

In Biblical times decrees, covenants and statutes were given to God’s people to write. Therefore, as a Christian writer, everything we publish, can have God’s purpose embedded within it.

In 2 Kings 23:3 we read, ‘The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the Lord—to follow the Lord and keep His commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.’

Therefore, as a Christian writer, everything we publish, can have God’s purpose embedded within it.

Proverbs 19:21:“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Think about that!

Under the Scribal Anointing, the written word takes on a whole new dimension. The reader has a God experience. The scribes and prophets of the Bible, received from God. They were saturated with the Scribal Anointing, and mankind is still experiencing it to this day!

A Shofar or a Bugle?

As a writer, editor and publisher of both Christian and secular works, my question to you today is: Do you want to be a shofar or a bugle?

Do you want to be a Christian writer anointed by God and writing in His confidence (a shofar) and allowing the Holy Spirit to give you prophetic insight? Or someone who simply wants to publicise what is happening in the world (a bugle)?

I would encourage you to embrace the Scribal Anointing, for as an anointed scribe you will not only pull down walls of ungodly communications but you will ‘throw a lifeline’ to the lost.

As a believer, submit to the Holy Spirit and carve your words with purpose. Embrace the Scribal Anointing that God has given you. Fulfill your destiny in Christ and edify us all!
